PREVIEW: STERLING AT TABOR

Today, Sterling hits the road again for an important conference game against the Tabor Bluejays in Hillsboro KS. Tabor currently sits in second place in the conference at 3-1-1, while Sterling is tied for third (with Ottawa) at 4-2. Tabor has a game in hand as their game this week with Friends was rained out and rescheduled for November 5th. Sterling's game against St. Mary was also rained out, but was played yesterday.

Today's game could go a long way toward deciding conference position and therefore home field advantage and first round byes in the upcoming playoffs. Tabor still has to play K-Dub (6-0 in conference), Bethel (3-3) and Friends (2-3). Sterling faces McPherson (3-2-1) and Friends (2-3).

Tabor and Sterling have five common opponents to date and the scores have been very similar.
Central Christian College lost to Tabor 2-0 and to Sterling 3-0. Tabor beat St. Mary 7-3, Sterling won 3-0. Bethany was defeated 3-1 by Tabor, 4-1 by Sterling. Southwestern lost 5-2 to Tabor and 6-2 to Sterling. Tabor's lone conference loss to date was to Ottawa 2-1, while Sterling was defeated 2-0.

Last year, Sterling prevailed over Tabor when Ryan Covey scored at the 87 minute mark. In 2006, Covey notched a hat trick in Sterling's 3-0 victory and in 2005, Mark Palmer and Charlie Sewell scored as Sterling won 2-0.

Tabor's leading scorers this season are Andy Adrian (8 goals, 1 assist) and Silas Hibbs (7 goals, 4 assists).
