STERLING'S COVEY NAMED KCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RYAN COVEY NAMED KCAC SOCCER “PLAYER OF THE WEEK”


10/13/2008 - STERLING, Kan., - Sterling College senior Ryan Covey has been named, KCAC (Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference) men’s soccer “Player of the Week” after two stellar performances in Sterling’s victories last week.

Covey led Sterling to a 2-0 record on the week, scoring 6 of his team’s 10 goals and tallied 2 assists on the week.

The forward from Edmond, Oklahoma, scored a hat trick (3 goals) and had two assist in Sterling’s 6-2 victory over Southwestern College on Tuesday. Covey then again scored another hat trick as Sterling beat Bethel College Saturday night in Newton.

“Ryan had a very impressive week,” said Sterling College Head Soccer Coach Dave Underwood. “Ryan has been a big part of our offensive success this season, not only scoring but setting up goals as well.”

The Warriors current record is 8-3 overall and 2-1 in KCAC play.
