NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

MENZIES AND EHMAN NAMED MEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Oct. 21, 2008 - KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The NAIA Men's Soccer national weekly honors have been announced and Brion Ehman of Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) was announced as National Defensive Player of the Week while Lyall Menzies of Grand View (Iowa) was named National Offensive Player of the Week, for the week of Oct. 13-19.

Ehman, a 6-0 junior goalkeeper from Salamanca, N.Y., had a big week in goal for Roberts Wesleyan. Against West Virginia Tech, he had two saves in a 3-1 victory. He followed that with a seven-save performance as the Raiders upset then-No. 1 Rio Grande (Ohio) 1-0. In the team's third and final game of the week, Ehman was in goal for 80 minutes of Roberts Wesleyan's 5-1 win over Shawnee State (Ohio). For the week, Ehman had nine saves in 260 minutes and his team went 3-0.

Menzies, a 5-11 forward from Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada, was a force for Grand View last week. The senior netted three goals and added an assist in the Vikings' 4-2 win over St. Ambrose (Iowa). The hat trick was his third of the season. Menzies added a goal and assist later in the week, as Grand View downed Mount Mercy (Iowa) 2-1. For the week, Menzies had four goals, two assists and ten total points.
