* * * BREAKING NEWS * * *

My sources report that Sterling lost at Tabor 1-0 with the lone score coming on a penalty kick. Sterling was playing without center midfielder Shawn Sajjadi due to injury and early in the game Sterling defenders Pedraam Abrar and Wes Tom struck heads together, badly bruising Abrar and knocking Tom from the balance of the game. Sterling had chances to tie, but failed to convert, including a shot off the post. Sterling is now 5th in the conference standings at 4-3 and is facing a tough battle to qualify for the playoffs, with upcoming games at home against McPherson and on the road at Friends.

This is the second week in a row that Sterling has had to play back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday, due to weather conditions. Apparently, other schools that had weather-delayed games this week were able to move games either to Sunday or next week to avoid playing on consecutive days.
